Valborg Vilhelmine Frederikke Olsen


My  grandmother, Valborg Vilhelmine Frederikke Olsen, was born in Magstraede in 1885. She was only 10 years old when her mother, Karen Marie Hansine Hansen, died. Valborg and sister Johanne Henriette spent a time in an orphanage.
In 1912 she married  Jens Joergen Pedersen Ellegaard. Together they had  two children: Joergen  and Erik.



Oluf Frederik Olsen



Oluf Frederik Olsen was born in 1860 in Copenhagen. In the census from 1885, we can see that he lives with his wife Karen Marie Hansine Johansen and her mother Henriette Olsen in the attic in  Magstraede 14.

It is also clear from the census 1885 that Karen was born in 1847 in Roskilde. Oluf and Karen had two daughters: Valborg born in 1885 and Johanne Henriette Olsen born in 1886.
Karen died  august 13th 1895.


After Karen's death was both children were sent to Dohns orphanage. When they came to the orphanage, and for what  reason is not known. The relationship between father and daughters cannot have been that bad, because Oluf was best man at Valborgs wedding, just as he was godfather by her children's baptism.

Oluf married in 1909 with Henriette Marie Hansen. They moved to Bjoernsonsvej 76, where they lived to Olufs death in 1929. Until now I have not been able to find anything about Henriette after Olufs death. She has probably moved, but to where is not known.

In 1929  Oluf comitted suicide. He hung himself.
