Ellegaard

My great-grandfather Lars Pedersen originate from Bullerup in Agedrup parish  on Funen, Denmark. He is the ninth child out of a bunch of 10 siblings. He marry in 1873 with Ane Elisabeth Pedersen, who came from Over Holluf in Fraugde parish.

Together they had 7 children, where my grandfather, Jens Jørgen, was the fourth in the flock. In 1905 was Lars got  the permission from the bailiff in Odense to use the name: Ellegaard.

My fgrandfather Jens Jørgen Pedersen Ellegaard omitted therefore Pedersen, when his two children Jørgen, and Erik, were baptized.

 Ib Ellegaard

My interest in genealogy was awakened around 1992, where I received copies of some letters from my mother. They came from a German genealogist, Oberingenieur Heinrich Jappe, who in the 1930s had contact with his Danish relatives. In addition to the letters there were some transcripts of Soroe parish register with information about, i. a. Ditlew Henrich, who was a fisherman  on Sorø lake. Ib Ellegaard Unfortunately Heinrich died in 1944, when he tried to rescue his genealogy papers during a bombardment. The House was hit by a bomb, and iso was Heinrich. It is sad that Heinrich already in 1939 wrote to its Danish relatives and announced that he had led the family roots back to 13 ' hundred century Friesland, but as the contact stopped because of the war, I have no idea of what information we are talking about.

One of my colleagues had begun on a course in genealogy, and he got me persuaded to participate. So the next three-four years we went to genealogy courses. It was only the church books forward to 1892, which was publicly available at the provincial archives at the time, so everything from thar year and forward was more or less closed country.

My maternal grandmother's father came from Agersoe, so at some point I began to do research in the part of the genus. I got hold of microfiches map with all church books from Agersø and Omø and soI was able to make my researches at home. I  also purchased a floppy disk with Brothers Keeper version, which was and still is an excellent program to keep track of all the information

Fortunately, we can now use Arkivalieronline, where you can be lucky to find relatives right up to 1950. It has saved me some trips to the provincial archives, however there is still some material, that is only to be found there.

At one point, I created a website where I released all of my genealogy research, and it has given a great many contacts with other genealogist, and that has been a great help for me. Here shall be a word of thanks to Flemming Topsøe-Jensen for lots of information about Jappe genus and for reminding me of the importance of writing down all my sources. Marianne Malmquist has given me  many information about the Frejlev Jappe branch. Fortunately, the contact is maintained, so we are still exchanging information, just as we meet with uneven intervals.

The first many years have passed by collecting data from church books, and it has been exciting, but in recent years I hav spent more time to trying to find out how my ancesters lives have been.

  Joergen Ellegaard

Joergen was born d. 4. august 1914 in Christians parish  on Islands Brygge. He is the son of Valborg Vilhelmine Frederikke Olsen and Jens Joergen Pedersen Ellegaard. Joergen chose, as his father, a career in the police.

He married Allis Koed Jappe d. 25 May 1941 in Solbjerg Church on Frederiksberg. Together they had three children: Jan, Ib and Kirsten.
The family lived  a great many years in an apartment on Engvej 43 in Sundby, Copenhagen. The flat was made up of 2 coherent livingrooms, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom with both bathtub and shower, which was very modern in the 1950s. The property had also incorporated central heating, so there was inlaid both cold and hot water.

The whole family slept in the same bedroom. We three children had a "bunk bed". Kirsten slept at the top, Ib in the middle and Jan in the bottom bunk. In order to give a little more space in the bedroom had father and mother a "Pull out" bed.

At a time in the 1950s purchased Joergen a summer cottage near Nykoebing Sealand. So here we spended the summerhollidays until 1959, when joergen got a position as  police inspector in Vordingborg.

The cottage was sold, so we were could to afford to build a House on Langedvej in Nedervindinge near Vordingborg.

Joergen died d. 24 June 1984. Allis was remained in the House until 2009, when she moved into an apartment in Naestved. Allis dies 2011.
